11 Letter Christian Curse Word

I once had a girl ask me to pray for her about a circumstance in her life she was trying to overcome. I gladly prayed for her, and afterwards I let her know that although prayer is a powerful thing, it was imperative that she find someone she trusted to keep her accountable. You would have thought I prophesied Ezekiel 23:20 over this girl, she had the most taken-back look on her face!

Why are we so frightened by the idea of human accountability?

"God keeps me accountable." "You don't have the right to judge me!" "It's not a big enough deal, I can handle it on my own."

Listen: It is a big deal, you can't handle it on your own (or else you would have) and God wants us to want to change bad enough to allow our mentors to speak into the areas we need most help in.

The proverbs are cluttered with verses revealing the necessity for us to have not only a mentor, but someone we can take correction from, and sometimes it requires more correction than we are honestly prepared to handle. Trust me, I know from experience dude...if ya know what I'm mean.

There have been times in my life where although I saw human accountability as the only solution, I still opted to keep trying the same things, for years! I finally realized it doesn't diminish the power of God in my life to give a human (but not just any person) the right to judge my actions, it shows I love God enough to do whatever it takes to get closer to him. Prov 21:30 showed me that I had to be willing to be purged to be free. I wanna talk more about the idea of freedom later, but I hope Christians begin to stop thinking of acc**ntability as what ________ needs, and start seeing the importance of being a community of Kingdom people.

How can we stay accountable? Comments appreciated...
